I fully believe in mentorship when it comes to the arts. That why I’ve run critique groups, coordinated a mentor program, and taught writing workshops through Nevada SCBWI, and why I’m about to start my second NV SCBWI Mentor Program as a mentor. I have well over a decade of experience as a professional writer and editor, critiquing manuscripts, teaching writing craft, and mentoring writers. I love being an author, but I love coaching and mentoring writers just as much.
I would love to work with you.

TESTIMONIALS
“Heather Petty is able to get to the heart of the story you’re trying to write. You might have to tear your book apart in order to put it back together again, but with Heather’s critiques the books always end up stronger. You end up with a book that you love, and the one you’ve been trying to write all along, but weren’t sure how to get there yet!” ~ Heather Riccio, writer of the The Sense Keeper
“Once upon a time, I had a bloated, unreadable manuscript that sprawled on for miles in the wrong direction. With Heather’s unique insight and masterful motivation, I was able to beat it into a story I could be proud of. Heather Petty is the best thing to happen to my first novel.” – Zack J. Payne, writer of Somehow You’re Sitting Here
“Heather is a professional author who earned her place in the book world with talent, of course, but also by learning everything she could about publishing. I’ve been fortunate enough to sell over two million books, but writing — not querying, marketing, editing — is my skill and I often turn to Heather for up-to-the-minute insight.” — Terri Farley, author of WILD AT HEART and The Phantom Stallion Series
“Heather’s critique is honest, thorough, and extraordinarily valuable. I guarantee I would not be the writer I am today without her guidance.” – Kim Harnes, author of Still Photo
My trust in Heather Petty’s abilities is so huge that I know that any manuscript I give her will be infinitely better for having had her input. Heather has a sharp eye, able to see not only the big picture but the smallest detail. She’s a gifted storyteller in her own right and applies that talent to the work of others with toughness and generosity. If your goal is to up your game and produce the best manuscript and/or query letter you can, you will benefit from Heather’s services. — Tracy Clark, author of MIRAGE and The Light Key Trilogy
